NuWay Plus provides access to individuals and families who want support when unexpected medical events occur, meaning life’s possible major medical occurrences.

At NuWay, we include access to this important service to ensure our members have access to everything they need to manage and pay for their healthcare. Through our relationships we have arranged the opportunity for our NuWay members to access a health organization in a way that cost effectively handles major medical costs and expenses.

The NuWay Plus is an additional membership program available to our members all pre-negotiated by NuWay and designed to operate by collecting monthly contributions from our members which we pay directly to our provider. These monthly contributions are predicated upon certain age and number of family members as well as the amount of any major medical expense the member wishes to be responsible for an initial payment comparable to a traditional deductible. This program, through the NuWay provider, available nationally except Washing State, covers eligible medical expenses of that community of over 57,000 members.

The process is typically very simple. Should a paid member in good standing be presented with a major medical expense, they submit a request for determination. The request is determined based on the member guidelines and if approved by the provider, the expenses are paid using those same collected monthly contributions from the community as a whole. As previously stated, members are responsible for the initial payment (similar to a deductible) before the payment process begins – think of this as the traditional deductible.

The specifics of what is eligible for payment, along with the process for submitting and reviewing expenses, are outlined in the member guidelines. While some medical expenses may not be eligible for payment, many members find this approach to be a cost-effective and flexible solution for managing their healthcare costs.

It is important to note that just like NuWay Healthcare, the NuWay Plus membership IS NOT INSURANCE! We like to think it’s better than insurance.

Each household chooses a set amount—$1,000, $2,500, or $5,000 that they personally cover before payment determination starts. This amount applies only to qualifying medical events. To keep out-of-pocket costs manageable, no more than three of these member-paid portions apply within any 12-month timeframe.

For your emergency medical care you can use any doctor you choose or happen to see for your immediate needs.

After telling the provider that the member is self pay, the member must get an itemized bill then submit it along with receipts of payment to be reimbursed as soon as the expense is approved to be paid. Our aim is to reimburse as quickly as possible.
