Membership

Can you help me understand this program?

Certainly!

NuWay Healthcare and NuWayRX are a healthcare membership such as Costco or Netflix but for individual or family healthcare coverage.

NuWay is designed to cater to a wide range of individuals, including the uninsured, underinsured, and those who are functionally uninsured, those insured people with high copays and high deductibles where they pay excessive premiums but hardly ever use the insurance benefit portion beyond their copays and deductibles. In today’s healthcare landscape, many struggle, often paying the billed price for health care services before ever meeting their deductibles.

How:

We utilize pre-negotiated healthcare agreements and long-standing industry relationships with many of the same healthcare providers that conventional insurance company’s use. We do this by working with various stakeholders such as physicians, pharmacies, and technology partners, to secure truly affordable health care without the burdens of high monthly fees. In doing so, we’re proud to offer low prices on many healthcare needs and either no cost medications or highly discounted medications nationwide. This ensures that individuals enrolled in NuWay Healthcare or NuWayRX can access essential, virtual medical care and medications at significantly reduced costs, easing the financial burden of healthcare expenses.

What do I have to do to get started?

It is simple, there are no enrollment blackout dates, and no prequalifying based upon age or gender. By clicking on the ENROLL NOW button on the plans page, simply sign up and create your account.

Can I still use my doctor?

NuWay does not preclude you using any healthcare provider you choose, however our pre-negotiated solution applies exclusively to our doctor and pharmacy network.  NuWayRX, our pharmacy-only based plan requires you to use your own doctor, transfer and or initially prescribe any prescriptions and securely send them to our pharmacy partner.

For our more extensive NuWay Healthcare plans, we offer pre-negotiated no cost access to most of our services with an extensive, national network of Doctors and clinics.

How does NuWay differ from traditional health insurance?

Instead of the larger monthly payment, high deductibles, and co-pays for most every event, NuWay offers affordable, pre-negotiated healthcare solutions that often cover up to 90% of typical family medical needs.

Our strong industry relationships allow us to provide essential health care coverage and medications at significantly lower costs, reducing your financial burden without the high monthly premiums of traditional health insurance.

Is there a benefit to having NuWay coverage if I already have traditional insurance?

Absolutely. Many members keep their insurance for rare hospital events and use NuWay for everything else. It’s the most affordable way to get fast, everyday health care without the red tape.

When it comes to employers, switching from traditional insurance does offer them significant savings. And if the employer uses NuWay Plus to cover the emergency care, they still see great savings over using insurance coverage.

Neither the NuWay Healthcare Membership nor NuWay Plus are insurance. We like to think it’s much better.

Will I get penalized for not having insurance if I sign up for NuWay?

No. The federal mandate for health insurance was removed in 2019. However, some states (Massachusetts, New Jersey, California, Rhode Island, and Washington DC) may have their own requirements and NuWay Health, Inc assumes no responsibility for legal advice.

Check with your tax advisor/preparer to file an exemption to avoid these state penalties.

Is NuWay Healthcare an Insurance Product?

No, NuWay is not an insurance product.

NuWay provides essential, tech-savvy health care plans for individuals who are uninsured and underinsured — gig workers, part-time workers, self-employed individuals, people between jobs, and those on high-deductible plans. NuWay is also a great option for Medicare users looking for an alternative to Part D coverage.

We also offer an alternative for people with insurance but are functionally uninsured because of high monthly premiums, high copays, and high deductibles.

Is NuWay Healthcare for everyone?

Nothing is for everyone, however, NuWay is designed to help the uninsured, underinsured, and those with high copays and deductibles gain access to essential, affordable health care.

NuWay does NOT cover all health needs but does cover what some say is up to 80-90% of most families healthcare needs. Our NuWayRX plan can be paired with traditional insurance plans, plans with high co-pays and even Medicare plans in a very economical way, but they also stand on their own as budget friendly alternative healthcare. If you need traditional insurance, please contact a traditional health insurance company.

NuWay Virtual Care and NuWayRX are NOT INSURANCE.

Can I select my doctor based on preferences such as specialty, gender, or language?

Yes, specialist profiles display information about each NuWay professional, including gender, language, and specialty.

This information is available when selecting a specialist online and even a picture and bio are available to choose from. In fact with NuWay your choice of doctor is extensive, with many more choices than the traditional restriction of just one brick and mortar location.

How secure is the communication line and who retains my medical records?

NuWay follows strict HIPAA security protocols to ensure confidentiality. Medical records are kept in a secure environment by our providers and are only shared as requested by the patient and as required by law.

If I sign up in the middle of the month, how does my billing work?

We do not prorate our memberships. Unlike traditional insurance, we do not require a prorated payment along with an upfront payment of the first and the last month. Therefore, most people choose to start their coverage immediately, understanding that another payment will be due and charged on the anniversary date of your first monthly payment.

Will my credit card be charged on a certain day each month?

YES, we charge your chosen payment method on the monthly anniversary every month on an auto bill basis, until cancelled.

Plans and Pricing

What health plans do you offer?

We offer three (3) primary care memberships. 1) a basic RX Only plan, 2) an Individual Unlimited Healthcare plan and 3) a Family Unlimited plan.

  1. NuWayRX Prescription Only Plan – This is the NuWay NO COST prescription plan!

This plan includes 815 no cost medications (generally covering 90% of all medications prescribed in the United States) at no costs, with no copays, no deductibles, and no hidden charges. In addition you will receive significant discounts on over 3,000 other specialty medications. All medications are generic and available in up to 90-day supply, depending on the prescription. These medications fall into two categories, Acute meds and Chronic meds. Acute are on a more urgent, one time needed basis where Chronic meds are generally, monthly recurring maintenance medications prescribed over a lifetime. Over the Counter (OTC) medications are NOT no cost and do NOT deliver no cost but are available at large discounts to normal retail.

NuWayRX Prescription Only Plan:

$49 per month – Individual or Family (up to 6 members).

  1. NuWay Individual Unlimited Full Suite Healthcare Plan – Includes the NuWayRX Premium Prescription Plan (above), Unlimited Virtual Urgent Care, Unlimited Virtual Primary Care, Virtual Behavioral Health, Counseling, Wellness Services, Dermatology Programs, Condition Specific Care, and much more. NuWay Individual Unlimited Full Suite Healthcare

  1. NuWay Family Unlimited Full Suite of Healthcare Plan – Includes the NuWayRX Premium Prescription Plan (above), Unlimited Virtual Urgent Care, Unlimited Virtual Primary Care, Virtual Behavioral Health, Counseling, Wellness Services, Dermatology Programs, Condition Specific Care, and much more. No copays, no deductibles, or hidden charges for basic care—just the membership fee. This covers a family with up to six members or even their parents if they qualify.

NuWay Family Unlimited Full Suite of Healthcare Plan

$159 per month – for a family of (up to 6 members)*

*Families with more than six members can add additional children or even their parents for only $25 per month per member.

How can I add a family member to my plan?

If you’re currently on an Individual plan and want to add a spouse or family member, simply upgrade to the Family plan and make the payment for the upcoming month. Your old plan will terminate automatically with no further charges, and your new coverage begins on the first of the month you sign up.

The Family plan covers up to six members, as long as children are under 26 years of age. Children 26 or older need their own individual membership. You can also add elderly parents to your Family plan for $25 per person, per month, directly from the enrollment page on the NuWay website.

When can I start using NuWay?

Once your payment has been submitted, you can begin using the NuWay system immediately, once signed in.

It may take time to receive an initial sign up email – usually in a matter of hours. Once logged into the network, you are live and the system is available.

When using the prescription portion for Mail Order it is immediate, picking up your medications at one of the 60,000+ retail pharmacies, it would be approximately 24 hours after you sign up AND DOWNLOAD YOUR NO COST PHARMACY CARD.

Can I cancel my membership? If so - how?

Yes, you may cancel your membership at any time; simply stopping your monthly payments. You remove yourself and your account from auto-bill which will remove you from billing and membership for the next 30 days. There are no refunds or chargebacks since monthly membership enrolls you in the system and network in advance.

If payments are not paid by the due date (the monthly anniversary of the date you enrolled) the plan membership will terminate. To keep your pricing consistent and to maintain use of the NuWay Virtual Healthcare system and network, keep your membership active by making timely monthly payments.

If I don’t use the plan during the month, will I still be charged?

Yes. Your monthly subscription applies immediately allowing you to remain active, your coverage starts on day one and is not prorated.

Does this qualify for the individual health insurance mandate?

There is no longer an individual mandate under the Affordable Care Act of which we’re aware at this time.

Coverage

Is NuWay appropriate for every medical condition?

No, it is not, any more than traditional insurance does not or will not cover everything.

However, NuWay Virtual Care and NuWayRX are designed to help cover up to 90% of the daily needs for most medical situations and non-emergency type medical conditions.

For emergencies, dial 911 immediately.

What are the NuWay Services that you provide?

Great question. Here’s a very basic, truncated list of services from the NuWay virtual care membership.

NuWay Services

  Virtual Primary Care

  Virtual Urgent Care

  Virtual Behavioral Health

  Virtual Psychology (with co-pay)

  Virtual Psychiatry (with co-pay)

  One no cost annual wellness panel for primary member and spouse

  Prescription Program

Are there limits to how many visits can be scheduled within a month?

Currently, there are no limits.

However, NuWay evaluates the program to ensure compliance with patient safety standards.

Can a member be turned down for a pre-existing condition?

Consultation requests are never denied due to pre-existing medical conditions.

Are there copays or deductibles?

Generally, No.

There are NO copays or deductibles for medications, including of all 815 no cost medications- most which are also delivered at no cost. There are NO copays, and NO deductibles for the Virtual Urgent Care, and Virtual Primary Care.

However, it is important to know that Psychiatry, Counseling and some other behavioral health needs may incur a co-pay. Always ask the Doctor or clinic.

What's the difference between Virtual Primary Care and Virtual Urgent Care?

Virtual Primary Care works like having your own doctor — the same provider gets to know your health history, current medications, and treatment plans over time, so you’re not re-explaining your situation from scratch at every visit. It’s best for ongoing, non-urgent needs: chronic condition management (blood pressure, diabetes, asthma), medication refills, long-term treatment plans, and general wellness questions. Visits are scheduled in advance to support that ongoing relationship.

Virtual Urgent Care is for things that need attention soon but aren’t emergencies — colds, flu, sinus infections, earaches, fevers, pink eye, rashes, and similar everyday conditions. It’s available 24/7/365 with no appointment needed; you’ll connect with the next available doctor, which may include a short wait.

For anything life-threatening — chest pain, severe trouble breathing, major injury — call 911 immediately. NuWay is not a substitute for emergency care.

Virtual Primary Care

What can I use Virtual Primary Care for?

Virtual Primary Care works like having your own primary care provider — someone who gets to know your health history and manages your care over time, rather than treating each visit as a one-off. It’s a good fit for ongoing, non-urgent needs like chronic condition management (blood pressure, diabetes, asthma), medication refills, annual wellness check-ins, and general health questions. Since it’s about building a relationship with a provider rather than solving an isolated issue, primary care visits are scheduled in advance.

Do I need to schedule my primary care visits in advance?

Yes. Primary care works on an appointment basis, so you’ll schedule your visit through the member portal for a time that works for you, rather than calling in on-demand.

How do I schedule an appointment with a doctor or clinic?

Assuming you are a current, paid member of NuWay in good standing, log in to your member portal after creating a login and password, click “Connect with a Doctor” in the field you’re interested in (urgent care, primary care, behavioral health, etc.)  fill out the short questionnaire, and schedule your appointment at your convenience. Average wait times are less than 7-10 minutes.

Who are the NuWay doctors?

NuWay connects you with a broad, professional network of U.S.-based primary care providers licensed in your state.

Additionally, NuWay has taken precautions to ensure our network of doctors undergo a rigorous screening process, including reviews of their clinical experience, training, licensure, and thorough background checks.

They are also verified through NCQA/NPDB standards. In most cases, these many thousands of doctors are the same licensed practices and clinics utilized by traditional health insurance companies.

Will I see the same doctor every time?

When you schedule a primary care visit, you’ll choose your preferred provider, date, and time from NuWay’s network of licensed doctors. If the provider you saw last time is available for your state and time slot, you can select them again for continuity. If they’re not available when you need an appointment, you’ll choose from other licensed healthcare providers in the network — so you’re never stuck waiting on one specific doctor’s schedule.

Can I get lab work or bloodwork done through Virtual Primary Care?

Yes. If your provider determines labs are needed as part of your care, they can order bloodwork or other tests and send the order to a nearby lab for collection. This is part of how NuWay’s primary care providers manage ongoing conditions and general wellness — using real diagnostic data, not just conversation, to guide your treatment plan.

Virtual Urgent Care

What are the most common conditions you treat?

Our doctors are the same doctors you would use in a traditional insurance or cash pay situation, so they can treat and diagnose most conditions. Our doctors treat a wide range of medical conditions.

Common urgent care conditions include allergies, asthma, bronchitis, colds & flu, earaches, fevers, pink eye, heartburn, nausea, rashes, sinus infections, men’s and women’s health, sore throats, middle ear infection, etc.

The list of treated conditions is significantly long and detailed.

Do I need an appointment for urgent care, or can I just call in?

No appointment necessary. Call or log in anytime and you’ll be connected with the next available doctor. Since there’s no scheduled time slot, wait times can vary, but you’re never turned away or told to book for later.

Can I schedule urgent care after hours?

Yes, we offer urgent care 24/7/365.

What can you expect to receive?

An examination, diagnosis, and treatment from our virtual urgent care provider over a voice or video call at your option.

Here’s a breakdown and example of what you may experience during your virtual urgent care visit with us:

  • You will be seen by your provider 1-on-1 over a video call. Except for you and your provider, no one else will be present during the video visit.
  • Your provider will ask a few questions about your medical conditions and history.
  • If needed, you may be asked to measure your vital signs such as weight, blood pressure, and temperature under the guidance of your virtual provider. It would be great if you keep related medical instruments, like a thermometer, weight machine, or digital blood pressure monitor in front of you during your visit.
  • You may be asked to assist with the physical examination.
  • After your visit, our provider will share an after-visit summary containing a care plan and any follow-up instructions, including referrals for a specialist visit or diagnostic imaging.
  • We can also prescribe over video, and based on your preference, we will also send your prescriptions digitally to the pharmacy of your choice.
What do people do in case of an emergency?

People ask us this all the time. And here’s what we say to them: “What do you do right now?”

If someone doesn’t have health insurance, they usually pay cash or avoid care. If they do have insurance, they pay the deductible or copay or get billed later.

NuWay makes sure you don’t have to be scared of emergencies — you’ll always get the care you need.

Most of life’s medical needs (about 90%) are already covered through your NuWay membership.

And for the rare major event, you can still go to the ER, pay cash at a discounted rate, or pair NuWay with your insurance or add NuWay Plus optional emergency coverage.

The difference is that with transparent healthcare, you always know what you’re paying — and why.

Behavioral Health

What type of Behavioral Health specialists are available?

NuWay offers the freedom to choose services from no-cost services with psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors, clinical social workers, and marriage and family therapists.

Is there a time limit on how long I can speak with a mental healthcare specialist?

Not easily answered because therapy visits are expected to be 45 minutes on average.

Psychiatry visits vary based on patient needs. Counseling visits carry zero deductible and zero co-pay but Psychiatry and Psychologists, do have a co-pay, even though it’s heavily discounted to retail.

What do I do if I feel I am in immediate danger of self-harm?

This is considered an emergency and you should immediately dial 911 for assistance.

Can I use the Behavioral Health service for an emergency?

No, Behavioral Health services are not intended for emergencies. For emergencies, dial 911 immediately.

Can I get a Behavioral Health appointment on-demand, or do I need to schedule ahead?

Behavioral Health and Counseling visits must be scheduled in advance. NuWay doesn’t currently offer on-demand/walk-in access for these visits, so plan to book ahead of when you need to be seen.

Prescriptions

What is the NuWayRX prescription program?

NuWayRX is NuWay’s dedicated rx program for members who only need prescription savings without the full healthcare membership. It includes over 800 no-cost medications — covering roughly 90% of what’s commonly prescribed in the U.S. — plus significant discounts on over 3,000 additional specialty medications. There are no copays, no deductibles, and no hidden fees; just straightforward access to the medications you need at a price that actually makes sense.

How are prescriptions sent to the pharmacy?

Doctors submit prescriptions electronically or by phone to your chosen pharmacy or to our ship-to-home facility. NuWay does not dispense prescription drugs.

What if my medication is not on the formulary online?

This is rare, however if the medication is not on the formulary, call customer service to see if we can special order the medication.

Additionally, our pharmacists can help determine an equivalent drug to help meet your medication need.

Is there a limit to how many prescriptions I can get filled?

There is no limit.

Do you support 30-day prescriptions? How about 90-Days?

Yes, we support 30-day and 90-day prescriptions.

What quantity will I receive at no charge?

The quantity will be per the doctor’s order on the prescription. However, there is a maximum quantity limit allowed by the program. Charges may occur for maximum quantity limits.

How long will it take for me to receive my order?

It will depend on your shipping preference. If you use standard shipping, delivery takes 7–10 days. You can also set up a regular shipping schedule for home delivery.

Do you have expedited shipping?

Yes, but it’s not no cost. We have expedited shipping: Next Day $44.95, 2 Day $15.00

Men’s & Women’s Care

What's included in Women's Health care?

Women’s health care is included as part of your virtual care benefits on Individual and Family memberships — no separate copay, no extra fee. Through unlimited virtual primary and urgent care, you can talk with a provider about:

  • Routine women’s health questions and concerns
  • Birth control consultations and prescription management (where appropriate and legal)
  • Menstrual issues — painful periods, irregular cycles, heavy bleeding
  • UTIs and vaginal infections — evaluation and treatment
  • Hormone-related concerns like PMS or perimenopause/menopause symptoms
  • Basic fertility and preconception counseling, with referrals to a specialist when needed
  • Pregnancy questions and early guidance (symptoms, safety, and next steps) — for full prenatal, delivery, and postnatal care, members can add NuWay Plus for additional coverage
  • Sexual health concerns, including STI evaluation and treatment when appropriate
  • General wellness support, including labs ordered when clinically needed

Since visits are virtual, in-person exams (like pap smears or pelvic exams) and imaging (like mammograms or ultrasounds) aren’t performed directly — your provider can order these and refer you to an in-person facility when needed.

What kind of care is available for Men's Health?

Men’s health is included the same way — part of your unlimited virtual primary and urgent care, with no separate copay. Providers can support:

  • Sexual health concerns, including evaluation of erectile dysfunction, low libido, or related symptoms — your provider will review your history and, when appropriate and legally permitted, may prescribe medication or recommend further testing or in-person care
  • Hormone-related concerns like fatigue, mood changes, or symptoms possibly related to low testosterone — your provider can order labs when clinically indicated and discuss next steps, which may include referral to a specialist for ongoing hormone therapy
  • Urinary and prostate-type symptoms — initial evaluation and guidance, with referrals if in-person testing is needed
  • General wellness — blood pressure, cholesterol, weight management, and lifestyle/prevention counseling
  • Medication management and refills when appropriate

As with women’s health, virtual visits don’t include hands-on exams or procedures (like a prostate exam) — your provider can refer you in-person when that level of care is needed.

Are there any limitations on Men's/Women's Health services?

Yes. Virtual care is telehealth, so it covers evaluation, counseling, medication management, and ordering labs or imaging — but not hands-on exams or procedures themselves. A few specific things to know:

  • Controlled substances are never prescribed through virtual visits, regardless of condition
  • Fertility treatment (like IUI/IVF protocols) isn’t included — virtual visits can offer basic counseling and referrals only
  • Full prenatal care, delivery, and postnatal care aren’t included in standard virtual visits, but members can add NuWay Plus for that coverage
  • In-person procedures — pap smears, pelvic exams, prostate exams, mammograms, ultrasounds — require an in-person provider; your NuWay doctor can refer you when needed

Other Services

What does a Virtual Dermatology consult include?

Dermatology consults combine a real-time visit with photos when helpful — this isn’t just “send a picture and wait.” You’ll connect with a licensed provider by phone or video, describe your symptoms, and upload photos of the skin issue if relevant. Your provider evaluates you using both, then provides a diagnosis and treatment plan. When appropriate and legal in your state, they can prescribe dermatology medications — including topical treatments for conditions like acne, rashes, and infections — and send them to your pharmacy or arrange home delivery.

Your membership includes 3 no-cost virtual dermatology consults per year. For additional dermatology visits beyond that, reach out to NuWay support to confirm current options.

What is Care Navigation, and how do I use it?

Care Navigation is a dedicated team providing personal care services — real people, not just a self-service tool — available 24/7 to help you move through your care. They can help you:

  • Understand next steps after a virtual visit, including labs or imaging
  • Use your lab benefits and connect with the Lab and Imaging Discount Program for tests beyond your free annual panel
  • Navigate referrals when a provider recommends in-person specialist care
  • Get the most out of your prescription benefits, including pharmacy pickup vs. home delivery

You can reach Care Navigation by logging into your member portal or calling member support, where you’ll be connected with a Care Navigator.

What is Condition Specific Care?

Condition Specific Care means your virtual visits aren’t limited to one-time urgent issues — you can also use them to manage ongoing or clearly defined health conditions, like diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, skin conditions, and weight management. Your provider can follow up with you over time, adjust treatment as needed, and order labs when appropriate, all within your membership’s healthcare programs.

What's included with lab work and wellness panels?

Your membership includes one no-cost annual wellness lab panel through LabCorp or Quest — covering the primary member, and the spouse too when enrolled on the plan. To get it ordered, just request it during a virtual visit; your provider will send the order to LabCorp or Quest, and you’ll head to a nearby location for the draw. Need labs beyond the annual panel? Your provider and Care Navigation team can connect you with additional discounted testing through the Lab and Imaging Discount Program.

How does the Lab and Imaging Discount Program work?

Beyond your one no-cost annual wellness panel, NuWay can connect you to discounted lab and imaging services through the Lab and Imaging Discount Program. Pricing is based on pre-negotiated rates and varies by test and location, rather than being fully covered like the annual panel. A Care Navigator can confirm which labs or imaging centers near you participate and what your discounted pricing would look like.

What's the difference between Psychiatry and Psychology?

Both are available through NuWay’s mental health coverage, but they serve different needs. Psychiatry involves a provider who can evaluate and manage conditions with medication, adjusting treatment plans as needed. Psychology (and counseling) focuses on talk therapy — working through concerns, patterns, and coping strategies without prescribing medication. Counseling visits carry no deductible or copay; Psychiatry and Psychology visits do carry a copay, though heavily discounted compared to retail rates.
